A response to the news that Black Lives Matter received over 90 million dollars in donations in the wake of George Floyd’s death, as reported in the Associated Press on February 23, 2021.

Today our co-founder, Ferguson frontline organizer @VanguardTNT alongside Mike Brown’s father demands 20 million from #BlackLivesMatter in order to continue the work they and other have been doing since the uprising since 2014.

Today Black Lives Matter Inland Empire announced its departure from the Black Lives Matter Global Network, highlighting several grievances, and perhaps, calling attention to the need for movement leaders and members of movement organizations to have broader conversations of transparency, Collective organizing and accountability. The national leadership of Black Lives Matter has come under repeated fire for exploiting situations of community outrage over police violence and scamming families who’ve had loved ones murdered by the cops.

In order to understand how Black Lives Matter co-opted Ferguson, changed the course of the movement and how we got to where we are (lack of results, transparency & accountability), you have to understand how they move… They tried unsuccessfully to hijack the movement behind Trayvon Martin. When Ferguson became world news they set their eyes on the movement here while completely ignoring the movement that was growing in their own backyard. Ezell Ford wasn’t world news. His life didn’t matter until it could be exploited…
